We've Lost Another Hero

Channel 2 TV reported Senior Police Officer Gail Thomas, 46 and 15 year veteran, was killed Tuesday night by an alleged drunk driver while assisting another officer working a wreck near the Downtown Connector.

A Zone 5 officer arrived at 11 p.m. to handle a single car accident on the ramp to I-85 north from I-75 south. The officer called for additional units to assist with traffic control while the investigation was conducted.

Officer Thomas was the second officer to arrive. Shortly after exiting her vehicle, she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Officer Thomas had just started her watch when she was killed.

Police have charged the driver, Ms. Chasity Jones, of Stone Mountain, with first-degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and reckless driving.

The 22-year-old blew a .16 on the scene and refused consent for a state administered blood alcohol reading.

It’s sad, Peeps. We have lose another hero to drunk driving.

Lets Make A Tequila Christmas Cake

I was looking through some recipes Judy has in a box over the counter. I found this one and it sounds like it will make a great cake, especially for next Christmas.

But I not only want to share it with you, my peeps, but I will cook my own cake (I know…alert the media and the fire department.) So I’ll wait a few minutes while you gather the items you will need. They are:

1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup water
1 tsp. salt
1 cup brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 bottle tequila
2 cups dried fruit

(crickets, crickets, read War and Peace, waiting, waiting…)

Okay! Got all the ingredients? Good! Now let’s start…

Sample the tequila to check quality. This is important for the proper taste.

Take a large bowl; check the tequila again to be sure it is of the highest quality.

Repeat.

Turn on the electric mixer and beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.

Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.

At this point, it is best to make sure the tequila is still OK and has not gone flat.

Try another cup just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 eegs and add to the bowl and chuck iin the
cup of dried fruit.

Pick the fruit up off the floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the tequila to test for tonsisticity.

Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something.

Check the tequila.

Now shift the lemon ice strain your nuts.

Add one table.

Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.

Greash the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360s and try not to fall over.

Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the tequila and wipe the counter with the cat.

DESTINCTION BETWEEN GUTS AND BALLS

To those of you who are nitpickers about the meaning of worlds, there is a definite distinction between Guts and Balls. We’ve all heard about people having Guts and Balls, but do you really know the difference between them?

Let me explain:

GUTS – is arriving home late after a night out with the boys, being met by the wife with a broom and having the Guts to ask, “Are you still cleaning, or are you flying somewhere?”

BALLS – is coming home late after a night out with the boys, smelling of perfume and beer, with lipstick on your collar, and slapping your wife on the ass and having the Balls to say, “You’re next, chubby.”

I hope this clears up any confusion on the definitions.

Medically speaking, there is no difference in the outcome. Both result in death.

Useless Knowledge - Again

In keeping up with my efforts to educate and enlighten you as well as rounding out your knowledge base, I find it useful to know a bit of useless and trivial information. So today's lessons are centered around…uh…stuff.

Let’s start off with New Years. January 1^st officially became New Year’s Day in the Western world in 1582, when Pope Gregory XIII adopted the Gregorian calendar. Before that the New Year usually began in March.

The tradition of making New Year’s resolutions dates back to ancient Babylon. Back then, they didn’t give a shit about losing weight, but, instead, resolved to return borrowed farm equipment.

Now let’s look at some necessary (???) studies. Food scientist at Leeds University in England tested cooking temperatures and ingredients in order to determine the formula for the perfect bacon sandwich. Their findings? Thin, crunchy bacon works best. Now wasn’t that worth a grant from the government? Any Waffle House could have told them the same thing.

Also from England (a research mecca it seems) a study concluded that sword swallower's were at high risk for sore throats and internal bleeding…especially if they were distracted while swallowing the swords. I also suspect that you would find the same or similar problems if the swallower wasn’t concentrating enough and took a bow before removing the sword.

And a Princeton psychologist argued that short, simple words make writers seem smarter than long words do. The ironic name of the study? “Consequences of Erudite Vernacular Utilized Irrespective of Necessity.”

Finally, 1 in 200 kids is a vegetarian. The other 199 are obese McDonald lovers.

Ever hear of someone On The Lam? Yeah, me, too. The origin comes from the 1500’s where lam meant “to beat soundly.” It was derived from the Norse word lamja, which meant “to make lame.” By the 1800’s the meaning morphed to become slang for running away (especially from the police.) Literally, beating one’s shoes against the ground as in running.

I will wind up today's lessons by talking about pigs…not the one’s I met in bars late at night, but the real porker types who live in sty’s.

I CANNOT sweat like a pig because pigs do not have sweat glands. They keep cool by staying in the shade or, only occasionally, rolling in mud.

And according to behavioral scientist, the pig is the smartest farm animal and one of the smartest on Earth after humans, primates, whales, dolphins, and elephants, but ahead of Democrats.

A Real Tear Jerker!

Last week, I took my grand-children to a restaurant. My six-year-old grand-son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, “God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Grandpa gets us ice cream for dessert. And liberty and justice for all! Amen!”

Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, “That’s what’s wrong with this country. Kids today don’t even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!”

Hearing this, my grand-son burst into tears and asked me, “Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?”

As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my grand-son and said, “I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.”

”Really?” my grand-son asked.

“Cross my heart,” the man replied. Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), “Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.”

Naturally, I bought my grand-children ice cream at the end of the meal. My grand-son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman.

With a big smile he told her, “Here, this is for you. Shove it up your ass you crabby old bitch!“

Mother-In- Law

That’s Dot working on her crossword puzzle.

My eighty-seven year old mother-in-law, Dot, comes down from New Jersey each year for two or three weeks over Christmas (Judy’s sister back home is Jehovah Witness and Dot has no one to celebrate with.)

You are seeing her above in her natural element when she is here. On her fat ass reading or working crosswords. She will get up to eat (if she can’t get someone to bring it to her) and go to the bathroom. With the latter, our toilet paper use doubles…my god how big is that hole? And she takes pills for every ailment known to man and wears patches for pain. She takes stool softeners and then a pill to keep her from shitting her brains out. Yet Judy had to run to the store to get her a laxative. She’s a trip. And Judy has to make EVERY decision for her.

Yet she is sweet and appreciative of all the attention (she doesn’t get it at home.) However, she can be draining on the soul and wear a person out. So when it’s time for her to leave, there aren’t too many tears shed.

Today was the day!

But taking her to the airport wasn’t the only thing I had to do today. After dropping her off, I had to go pick up my nephew, David, and take him for his follow up visit after his back surgery (he came out great, by the way – thank you for asking.) So I had time to drop her off and drive over to David’s with plenty of time to spare.

Dot always has more stuff going back than she did when she came down. Christmas, ya know! So she packs her bags with what she came with and we box up all the other stuff and mail it to her. There were several bags and boxes in her room to be packed up.

She told me she only had one suitcase and one carry-on. So I took her suitcase out to the car while she took her time with her walker going to and getting into the car. And off we go on our hundred mile trip to the airport…through the heart of downtown Atlanta during morning rush hour traffic. But the trip ran pretty smooth today. No wrecks to deal with (a rarity during the rush hour around here.)

As I was about to get off I-85 to go to the airport unloading area, I told Dot to get her boarding pass out. She said it was in the blue bag in the back seat.

“What blue bag?”

“My carry-on!”

“Did you put it in the car?”

“No! You were supposed to bring it out with my suitcase.”

The blue bag was on the other side of the room with the presents to be mailed and the suitcase was on her bed. Who would have known?

Anyerror, this is one of the reasons I don’t carry a gun in my car. Yet I was wishing with every fiber of my being for an ejection seat on the passenger side.

“That’s okay, we can print out another boarding pass at the airport.”

“But my picture id is in my carry-on.”

(Can I open the door and push her out?)

So, I have no other choice but to turn around and go back the 100 mils to get her stuff. She is apologizing profusely and I am telling her that it’s okay. It was my fault for not realizing I was dealing with a lazy…oh, forget it.

So on the way back I decided to just change the flight and send her ass home tomorrow. She can pay for the flight change.

She didn’t say another word all the way home. But she did get to eat the doughnut she had in her walker pouch (where she normally keeps her billfold with her charge cards and id.)

I had to drive like a bat out of hell to cover the 100 miles back to get David to the doctor. I had to call and tell them we would be late and arrived only 30 minutes late.

But have no worries about Dot. I get to do it all over again in the morning.

Tomorrow night will be SWEEETTTT!

Learn The English Language - Again

Let's face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth, beeth? One goose, 2 geese! So one moose, 2 meese? One index, 2 indices? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend? If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm goes off by going on.

English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

PS. - Why doesn't 'Buick' rhyme with 'quick'?

But…

There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is 'UP.'

It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?

We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car.

At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses.

To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special. A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP, you may wind UP with a hundred or more. When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP. When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP.

When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP. When it doesn't rain for a while things dry UP.

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, whose hand was caught in the squeeze gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man.

Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his role as our president.

The old rancher said, 'Well, ya know, Obama is a 'Post Turtle''.

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him, what a 'post turtle' was.

The old rancher said, 'When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor's face so he continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, he's elevated beyond his ability to function, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with."

Where are the three who brought down Wall Street now?

Here's a quick look into the three former Fannie Mae executives who brought down Wall Street.

Maybe the Occupy Pussies should read this.

Franklin Raines was a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Fannie Mae.

Raines was forced to retire from his position with Fannie Mae when auditing discovered severe irregularities in Fannie Mae's accounting activities. He left with a "golden parachute valued at $240 Million in benefits.

The Government filed suit against Raines when the depth of the accounting scandal became clear.

Tim Howard was the Chief Financial Officer of Fannie Mae. Howard was a strong internal proponent of using accounting strategies that would ensure a "stable pattern of earnings" at Fannie

Investigations by federal regulators and the company's board of directors since concluded that management did manipulate 1998 earnings to trigger bonuses.

Raines and Howard resigned under pressure in late 2004. Howard's Golden Parachute was estimated at $20 Million!

Jim Johnson a former executive at Lehman Brothers and who was later forced from his position as Fannie Mae CEO.

Investigators found that Fannie Mae had hidden a substantial amount of Johnson's 1998 compensation from the public, reporting that it was between $6 million and $7 million when it fact it was $21 million."

Johnson is currently under investigation for taking illegal loans from Countrywide while serving as CEO of Fannie Mae.

Johnson's Golden Parachute was estimated at $28 Million.

Kinda makes you sick to your stomach. Our government seems to be rotten to the core with all the tax evaders, Chicago thugs and these three in the Obama cabinet.
