The Last Transport With A Pleasant End

Well, the last transport is over. This one was so easy though (if driving for 36 straight hours can be called easy), because I had a copilot and relief driver with me. My long suffering wife, Judy, tagged along.

We left the house to meet Dr. Amber and her able bodied assistant, Susan, and to pick up the dogs around 4 P.M. We got held up due to a couple of auto accidents, road construction, and a reroute to bypass all the traffic, and were late arriving. We got on the road with the puppies around 6:30 (an hour and a half later than usual) and drove straight through to Menands, NY. We arrived just after 10:00 A.M. and unloaded.

On the return trip, Judy drove some and gave me a chance to get some sleep. This was nice in that on the other trips, if I napped, it was in a rest area and only for 20 minutes to a half hour. I got to nap for about an hour. Pure Bliss!

(Suz, Studley Hungwell, and Judy)

But the most pleasant thing about the trip, Judy and I got to meet up with my blogging pal, Suz. She is a sweetheart, and was such a pleasant person to talk too. I could tell she wanted me, but I’m use to that. I had to admire her self-control and restraint, though. Having Judy setting next to me probably had something to do with it, too. But, dejected none the less, she held up well, and made the visit more than either Judy or I expected. Thanks, Suz.

We got back to the house at 3:00 A.M., unloaded the van of my personal stuff, picked up the car and drove over to Dr. Amber’s operating sheter and unloaded the transport cages. And, since we were closer to the Home Depot where we rented the cargo van than we were to the house, we decided to return the van first.

But HD opens at 6:00 and it was 4:30. So what to do for an hour and a half? What any red-bloodied American from the South would do. We went to the Waffle House for breakfast and some reading. But reading a book was difficult because we kept nodding off. So we drove over the Home Depot and just walked around outside until they opened. We got home around seven and worked on an email about the old house, fed the dogs and went to bed around 8:00. And it is needless to say, there was no problem in going to sleep.

End of story!

Yes, it was Judy that kept me in line. And a restaurant full of witnesses!

It was a real treat to meet you both - come back any time!

Studly, everyone wants you. I'm glad Suz managed to contain herself and that you remembered that your wife was sitting nearby.

Your Judy is a cute little piece of tail, and you can tell her I said so.
