Watching Over Our Fallen

The photo at the top was sent to me last week.  It showed a Bald Eagle  standing watch over a Military Cemetery in Minnesota, and I thought it was an awesome sight.

Then my USS Frank E. Evans DD754 Association’s historian, Frank Jablonski, resent the picture you see above.  One of the "Lost 74", SA Michael A. Orlikowski, has a headstone dedicated to him there: Section MA, Site 48.

SA Orlikowski’s official grave is in the South China Sea, but the headstone was erected in his memory.

That made it even more special to me and I wanted to share it with you, too.

Lest We Forget…

  1. So sad, repeated over and over and still yet today. I am eternally grateful to each of them, without the fallen, I would not be free.

Love the pic of the eagle, too. Thanks for posting. :)

  5. Joe is constantly watching the military history channel, yet he balks at watching any of the horror movies that I watch.

    Mine are make-believe.

His are REAL. And while he watches with amazement and giant respect for those who came before and sacrificed everything, I find the waste and carnage of our youngest to be the biggest horror show of them all.....BECAUSE it's real.

We've successfully lost the best of our best throughout the years, due to decisions made by those in office, safely too old to do it themselves.

I was not military, but I never allow one who is, to walk past me without thanking them.

  8. Hi Blog-Daddy,

Just catchin up and found that I had to just sit and stare at this pic...

The only thing that went through my mind was

Did anyone understand "What" was being shown to those who saw it?

Now ask yourselves with all the trees and high places around "Why did this Our Most Sacred Symbol chose to sit on that headstone?"

    Figured it out yet?

    I have...

    Miss Em
