The Boogie Man Is My Friend Review

I have been blogging since June of ’06 and of the 1,934 post I have only done one book review.  That was Dana Joy’s ‘Treadwell’, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I’m gonna do it again.

This is the review of my gal pal, retired cop and lovely (Hell, HOT) lady, Katherine Loving, of ‘The Boogie Man Is My Friend’ blog, who has published her book of the same name.

In the opening pages she will explain how she came up with this braggadocios claim.  You will understand more when you read it.

I am the kind of guy who likes to read about war, mysteries, rape, murder and mayhem with fast cars, plane crashes and shipboard fights.  Some intrigue and plenty of sex… no wait, that’s my porn movies.  Hell, I even like the wrecks in a NASCAR race.  So this book was a surprise to me.  By 'surprise' I mean I liked it.

Katherine chose to use her experiences and training to make us aware of what life is really like on the streets.  It is not a novel with a hero and heroine… well she is both… but more of a fireside chat explaining how parents can go wrong with their kids and what the kids have to face in their world, or what the police have to face on a daily/nightly basis. Nor is it a television show with crimes (one at a time) solved in 40 minutes.  Some of the cases she talks about took months of time consuming work to solve… then have the scumbag get a slap on the wrist.

For those of you with small kids or teenagers, I recommend that you read this book and take notes.   With twenty sumpin, sumpin years’ experience including hostage negation, family disputes and child advocacy, along with all the usual cop chasing and take downs, Katherine is a highly trained lady who needs to be listen too.

She even talks about herself and how she became the hot babe and crime fighter and person she is today.  She has had some hard knocks and plenty of loss, but she still believes in the power of the Lord and in humor.  Humor helps us all...

Bottom line, if you are smart and care for your family and/or want to understand your friends and neighborhood, you need to read this book.  Oh, and true to her career and job duties, she cusses like a sailor, much to her mother’s chagrin.  I like that.

Also, when she first published the book, I told her I only buy books that have centerfold foldouts and pictures, and there had to be one in her book for me to buy it.  She assured me there were pictures in the book and mine copy would have a foldout.  So I bought it.

And, true to her word, there are pictures included in her book and there was a centerfold foldout in MY book.

Ain’t she hot????
