This month’s book meme was found over at It’s a Pug’s Life and other places. I think you will see what a nerd I really am.
Here’s what you do:
• Grab the nearest book.
• Open to page 161.
• Find the fifth full sentence.
• Post the sentence.
"Sir: The distribution of the forces under my command, incident to an un-expected change of commanders, and the overwhelming force under your command, compel me, notwithstanding the brilliant success of the Confederate arms yesterday, to accept the ungenerous and unchivalrous terms which you propose." From the letter sent to Gen. U.S. Grant by Brig. Gen. S.B. Buckner, C.S.A. accepting Grant’s surrender demands from the book “Personal Memoirs” by Ulysses S. Grant.

ungenerous and unchivalrous terms he was not a happy camper.
Sounds like a cool book to me. Are you enjoying it, 'Pot?
pamela - I don't suppose he was very happy, having to give up his command and all.
beth - It is fun to read a book that is over a hundred years old. They sure talked funny back then. Not like us'ns do now-a-days.
