My New Header

What do you think of my new header? That is the ship on which I served, but it is not there for me. I wanted something to honor the 74 soles lost of 3 June, 1969, and to keep their memory alive. So I sent out feelers. The lovely and talented Hope, of Hope Radio (on my blog roll) took the time away from her huge task of raising four kids and doing milsupport for a number of Army and Marine personal, notable America’s 1st Sergeant (3rd Marines/3 Battalion (America’s Battalion) Marines in Iraq, at Castra Pretoria, also on my blog role.

I have never ask you guys for money or anything other than to vote for Dr. Amber’s group (she came in 3rd in the state and 126 in the nation, thanks to your efforts) but I will let you know that Hope does a huge selfless service by sending brownies, fans, crock pots, personal hygiene products and other items to help fight the heat those guys suffer from, and the majority of the expenses comes out of her own pocket. So if you have some loose cash (not likely in these stressful times, I know) and would like to help out our boys in harms way, go see her and click on her donation site. She could use the help. And don’t forget the 74 lost soles and their families. You can read about them at USSFEE.org.

I love the header!
There's a way of sizing it so the whole thing shows up. Can't remember quite --I think I ran it through photoshop.

Oh, and I want to echo support for Hope!

I've even given her a widget on my blog!!

She does an incredible job. In addition to America's 1st Sgt, Hope is also purchasing school supplies and plain t-shirts for my husband's Forward Surgical Team downrange. So please, send her the funds. She doesn't ask for money for herself, and frankly... I hope one day to be able to give her a day at the spa for some time for herself.

Nice header. Hope was helping with mine...but I'm too dumb to figure out how to actually get it up at the top like that...so it's over on the side.
..and it's a good idea! When we used to go to Ft Ord, CA for training...I remember the big sign as you headed to the training area that said: "Only____Soliders killed in training this year."
The last number I saw on the sign was 9. And that was in a time when there was no war!
The military needs to learn how to not be so careless with our people. Nobody should ever die by our own mistakes.

I do the same thing on my site every September 11. Joe and I were both on the fire department and Joe took 5 of his men and IMMEDIATELY left for ground zero to help. People have very short memories, but I still have a full blown tribute every year.
Thank you for your service to our freedom.

Kanani, I believe that if the picture was stretched across the top it would either disort it or would have to have the mast cropped.

And thanks for the link to Hope. She deserves any help she can get.

Sarge, Thanks.

CI, was it the military being careless with our young guys or was it the young guys being careless?

Blueeyedtawni, thank you!

Dana, thank you for coming over. I hope I don't disappoint.
