Customer Service

I become confused when I hear these terms which reference the word 'service’:

Internal Revenue ‘Service’

Telephone ‘Service’

Internet ‘Service’

T.V. ‘Service’

Civil ‘Service’

City & County Public ‘Service’

Customer ‘Service’

This is not what I thought ‘service’ meant. But today, I overheard two farmers talking, and one of them said he had hired a bull to 'service' a few cows.

BAM!!! It all came into perspective. I now understand what all those 'service' agencies are doing to us.

I hope you are now as enlightened as I am.

Well.. that explains it. I've obviously had my expectations set too high.

So next time my car gets serviced, I'm paying for labor to do what!? to my car?

Customer Service extends to treating the customer with respect.

While waiting at a Best Buy check-out counter, a department manager commandeered a register to ring up a customer he had been spending time with on the floor.

When I remarked about not being taken in turn he had a snippy remark about waiting one's turn.

The dumb-ass did not know how I had not darkened the doors of Best Buy for approximately three years as a personal protest against Best Buy.

So when Shirley was ready to get her MacBook we ordered from Apple's online store and paid for overnight shipping.

Driving to Best Buy that evening would have meant getting the laptop that night. And it would have given Best Buy our business.

Two days later I went to Best Buy to get a wireless mouse for Shirley. I had an opportunity to speak with that Best Buy's General Manager. He seemed to take to heart my concern about the disrespect of the other manager.

As well, he realized that his store missed an important sale because a store employee just had to get in the last word. The idiot had to set me straight.

When the store manager has his next meeting with staff he intends to talk about this aspect of customer service. Hopefully the dumb-ass who disrespected me will see himself in the example given.

Coffeypot correctly points out the missing service in service venues.
