Coffeypot Sitting & Touring Co.

Judy, my beautiful friend and long-suffering wife of Jim Latchford (my long winded blogging buddy) had plans for a three day seminar in Atlanta, but she didn’t want to leave her baby, honey, husband, friend, lover… what ever she calls him…home alone. So we worked out arrangements for me to baby-sit him while she was in her meetings. They came in on Friday, but I couldn’t get away to meet them because my Judy (the wife formally known as Sweet Tea) was flying in from three weeks in NJ and we were going from the airport to meet the kiddies, Marni and Carl for dinner and then take the kiddies home. So Jim promised to be good and stay in his room until I could get there on Saturday morning.

I picked him up around nine o’clock and we headed off for Kennesaw Mountain to visit the Civil War battlefield and museum. We are both CW nuts and love to visit historical sites. The picture below is of us on top of the mountain. It was a cool 60 something degrees with a slight wind blowing. But it was a beautiful day.

From there we went over to Cheatham Hill to see where the fiercest battle around the mountain took place. That’s Jim next to the cannon. This is a well preserved battlefield and is reminder of how horrible war can be.

From there we went to Kennesaw to see the museum dedicated to the Great Locomotive Chase. The engine General is located here. The engine that chased them in reverse is at the Cyclorama in Atlanta. The two pictures below are of the big boy and with Jim.

I got him back to the motel in good shape. He was a good boy and I didn’t have to punish him one time. He was so good, in fact, we went back out on Sunday to the Cyclorama. From there we went up to my town of Woodstock and had lunch at the Right Wing Tavern (look it up) and had a good Republican lunch. From there we went to the battlefield of Altoona Pass. Most of the lower parts of the battle field are under the water of Lake Altoona, but the old railroad cut and several trenches and star forts are still there. Again he was a very good boy and I got him back to his motel in good shape. Tired but in good shape. I think Judy was pleased because I didn’t get a phone call from her. Plus, they are from the Tampa/St.Pete area, so you know he was happy Sunday night.

So, if any of you are in the area and need the services of Coffeypot Sitting and Touring Co. let me know. I would love to be your host.

Wow! That's quite a tour. Poor Jim must be exhausted.

What the sam-hell is a "Republican lunch?"

Or… maybe I don't wanna know.

bd, the old train station in the town has been converted to a restaurant and bar. It is a pretty cool place and the food is great. Go to rightwingtavern.com and scroll though the menu. But be careful. Dems are frowned on there. Just true Americans are welcome.

WOW! Looks like FUN, I'd be all tuckered out too!

I love the pictures. The Civil War has always been one of my favorite areas of history to study. Someday I will have to bring the family down that way and show them some of that stuff. Very glad you had a good weekend!

KB may very well be in need of the Coffeypot Sitting and Touring Co. someday! And he'd love to do the CW stuff.

Hey! *I* need a sitter, too during these loooong days when My Gal Spooky is out at skool!!

I wonder if I can find anyone at the Elk's Lodge??

Mary, it was fun and a good tired, too.

suvvygirl, y’all come on down. I’ll swap with you because you live in a pretty historical place, too. I would love to spend a month or so touring the West.

cindydianne, bring him on. KB and I will have a good time.

cap’n, a good, experienced sitter is a good thing to have around. They can make a normal tourist thingy much more enjoyable by adding stuff that is not in the normal showing. I bet you have some cool stuff around your neck of the woods.

Re: "Dems are frowned on there. Just true Americans are welcome."

Essentially, what you are proving is that Republicans are bigots.

bd, Nope! Just good freedom-loving Americans without a Socialist bone in their body.

You expect us to believe ya'll were good for an ENTIRE weekend?
puh-leeze.

Also, this is WAY off topic, but I feel the need to state, for the record, despite what your 'traffic feed' says on your sidebar over there
--->
that I am NOT from Princeton, KY.

sigh

I feel better.

Special K, yep! We were good the whole weekend. You see, Jim and I are like peas in a pod. We think and feel the same way about almost everything. Except for one! He's a Christian (not manic or way far right) and I'm an agnostic. I even kept my “fucks” and “goddamns” down to only a couple. But we did have a good time anyways. And NOOOO, I did not sleep with him. Didn’t even hold his hand.

Also, I think the traffic feed thing shows the location of your internet provider or some type routing thing. I have one reader from somewhere around here and his feeder information says he is from Austria or Australia or Hollywood or some other foreign country. But I know you are from KY because of the hay in your hair and the cow-patty squeeze between your toes. That and you told me you are.

What do you charge for your services?? Do you have any references??
What the heck IS a republican lunch????

Coffeypot said...

biddie, there's no charge; just good company. Go to the web site, www.rightwingtavern.com and scroll thought the menu and look at the names of the items. The food is good and the drinks flow freely (not free, but freely – as in obstructed.)

Sounds like tons of fun, and very exhausting.

I checked out that Right Wing Tavern, and it's for real. I could go for some politically incorrect service, myself.

A warning to anyone who hasn't visited there yet. Be prepared when you scroll down .. the little gal in that dirndl dress almost got my lederhosen pumped up!

Uh Oh Coffeypot, is that a Devil Rays hat I see?

We're gonna have a problem here because I am a Phillies fanatic!

lori, sweetie. I don't follow baseball anymore, since they went on strike. My friend Jim came up from the Tampa/St Pete area and brought me the cap. I wore it out of respect and thanks for the gift and the thought. Now, when I wear it and someone says 'Go Rays' I tell them the TB on the cap is referencing my physique 'Tubby Belly.'

I want to come be baby sat, too!

Okay, I like Tubby Belly a lot better!
