Over on Face Book I reposted a post from a friend about first concerts.
My first was a Peter, Paul and Mary concert back in ‘66 or ‘67 at the old Civic Auditorium in Atlanta.
However, some of the comments I received over on FB were pretty cool.
So tell me about your first concert. Who and when and where! Some of you probably saw Mozart and others might have seen Miley Cyrus for your first concert. Anysong, let us know…

My first was Pure Prarie League back in '80 or '81. It was at the local college and a college guy (pretty exciting stuff as I was still in high school) that I didn't remember meeting called and asked me to go. My parents said no and I had to sneak it. The guy turned out to be a dud, but he and his friends had beer, at least. I saw very little of the concert. Which was okay because I wasn't really a PPL fan, anyway.
My first one was in 1980 or 81 I was 12 or 13. My Step Dad took me with a couple of his friends.
It was ZZ Top! I remember them singing Cheap Sunglasses and I caught a pair they threw out. My Step Dad and his friends were hippies so they had pot. One of them accidentally passed it to me in the excitement. I passed it on without toking, now if it would of been a few years later.... HA HA!
I know I went to some concerts in the 70's, but I can't remember who was playing and I swear I didn't drink that much....it was the "abaient smoke in the air" that was the problem.
Air Supply, Mud Island amphitheater in Memphis. I'm not sure of the year... I'd guess 1980ish.
My first concert - Sawyer Brown, Diamond Rio and Clay Walker - in 1994, when I was in college. Crap I'm YOUNG.
Nazareth - 1974. I was fourteen years old and thought I knew it all. I was not smart enough however, to stay away from the giant speakers, or to wear anything to block the sun. Ummm...after that, I was a lobster red, deaf...fourteen year old, who STILL thought she knew it all. :)
The Osmonds... don't remember the year. I just remember crying because I couldn't hear Donny sing because of all the screaming.
You were an angel and tried to get us closer to the stage. I could see them really well, but still couldn't hear.
Styx, Foreigner and Boston all together. Circa 1978 maybe.
Catching up on my blog reading. Happy Friday!
Fun post!
Leon Russell in 1973 at RFK Stadium. Oh man...takes me way back! (before kids era!)
