50th High School Reunion

Today was a great day.  Judy and I spent the day at my high school’s 50th anniversary. I don't know what is going on with the pictures, don't know if it's blogger or my camera.  But hopefully you can see them.

Here is me and my lady and a high school pal, Carolyn.  She is a riot and as sweet as she is pretty.

We also had three teachers show up…all three were my coaches, too.

The above is Coach (Dr.) Cook.  He is having a battle with Parkinson’s and not in the best of health, but it was absolutely great to see him again.  All the guys who played ball smothered him with conversations.  I believe we wore him out.

This is Coach Olson, our line coach in football.  He is a Clemson grad but we didn’t hold that against him.

Our quarterback coach, Coach Redford - the former QB at GA Tech, also something we don't hold against him (Go DAWGS).  But we were so busy talking to him that I forgot to get his picture.

And this is Bill and Michelle White.  Bill was one of my pals and a former pecker-checker in the Navy.

Another screw up, but anyphoto, the lady in the middle, Sandra, was one of my best friends back in the day.  In 1957 she was the first person to have open heart surgery in Atlanta and SURVIVE.   By the end of the eight grade (we started high school in the eight grade back then.  No middle schools in Atlanta at the time) she was hanging out at the skating rink and very active in school.  She is still my bestie.   We dated for a while back in the 80’s (between our first marriages) but she was just too good a person, and need a better man than me.  She got him and is as happy as I have ever seen her.

There are many more, but I won’t bore you with them.  Just rest assured it was a fun day traveling down memory lane and, since the statute of limitations has run out, it was fun telling stories on each other.

I am looking forward to my next reunion in 50 years.

Very cool. And um...next one in 50? What's your secret to living so long? LOL

Wow, it must be surreal to see all those people again after all this time! I hope my 50th reunion is equally as splendid.

I have never EVER been to a reunion of any kind.

I'm beginning to wonder now how many reunions there have been, for one thing or another, that no one has invited me to.

P.S. The picture problem lies with Blogger. If you upload 'em a second (sometimes third) time, they should be fine.

Happens to me all the time!

Looks like you had lots of fun. I couldn't wait to get out of high school and I never looked back. Well, maybe once to be sure it wasn't following me ;)

My 35th reunion is coming up. I'm not going. Most of my friends are on the deceased list.

Love,
Janie

Never been to a high school reunion. I just never fit in when I was a non-conformist in my youth and now I just don't want to see a bunch of old codgers thinking I'M old.
