Monday Pain

It’s Monday and I am feeling it.
**After reading the post after publishing I realized it sound like I was doing much of the stuff all by myself. Not true. Judy was working with me on everything except the grass cutting. Sorry!**

I don’t know how it happened but my lower back is killing me. Well, I do know. I am getting old and falling apart. I don’t like it AT ALL. To stand up I have to hold on to the chair and slowly stand up. It takes several seconds of forcing through the pain, hand over hand up my legs to stand up straight. I start out walking with a limp and kinda bent over. But after a few steps I can walk straight and without much pain.

Part of the problem is I have been very busy outside lately. We had over five yards of concrete poured and had to use a shovel to spread it and bull float to smooth it out. But I couldn’t finish and had to have my step-son finish it. Then I cut almost an acre of grass with a push mower around trees and out-buildings and chicken pens and stuff, and that had me walking with pain.

I pulled up some old fencing, moved it further out in the yard and set it up again as a chicken enclosure to keep the dogs out. Then I started installing a new, decorative fence and had to have Judy and step-son, Stephen, finish it. I could only sit in a chair and fume.

And yesterday I returned home from the Waffle House and couldn’t get out of my truck. No warning! The back just locked up. I finally slid down and staggered into the house. Aspirin, Tylenol, Ibuprofen and Jack Daniels are useless. I just fucking hurt.

But I have no choice but to work through it. The animas need to be fed; the chickens need feed and water. The garden needs watering. Life goes on. Steven is at work and his wife sleeps all day. So I have to do it.

Judy is in NJ and won’t be home until Wednesday night and I haven’t told her anything. Why? Because it wouldn’t change anything and she would just worry and try to come home early.

I tell ya, Peeps. Don’t try this growing old shit unless you are willing to fight it all the way. It is not for weaklings.

Now, I’m gonna stretch out on the floor for a while.

My daughter's late father in law was really "stove" up ... and then his wife fell asleep driving and the car rolled. She was injured... but he was just super cracked all over (not bones... just like knuckle cracking) and he was able to walk and move really well for quite a while. Not suggesting you have a wreck. But wondering if a good massage or stretch etc would do you some good

Hmmmm. After reading about your days of physical leisure, I have no idea why your back would be hurting. You must be a hypochondriac.

Good Lord Man - even the younger ones would be having back problems after all that work you have been doing!

Slow down - do it by degrees and savour each day you can make it to the waffle house!

I am a firm believer in the massage therapy! Awesome stuff. Of course taking it a little bit easier would be the first line of defence. MEN! Are you listening? No I didn't ask if you wanted a beer!
